Photo 1 is of the unit in one of its less glorious days, on the ground in Topeka, KS in 2010, while photo 2 is outside of Mid-America Car shop in KC earlier today. Sad to see you go, - Jeff Carlson Date: 11/24/12 14:03 Re: Requiem for a Smurf Author: DublinDistrict It looked SO much better in blue.

> I sorry but why was it blue? It's a former GMTX lease unit, one of 12 BNSF acquired in 2009. Most of these GP38-2's were ex-Conrail and were either solid blue or GMTX blue and white at the time. BNSF pressed them into service in their existing paint with minimal relettering - as with locomotives painted in predecessor schemes, they'll get around to painting them eventually. I have to wonder if folks like the "old" 2041 just because it's different, or if they'd really like the entire BNSF roster to look like that. I sure didn't hear many folks raving about how great Conrail's scheme was prior to the CSX-NS carve up. Date: 11/24/12 16:46 Re: Requiem for a Smurf Author: dan I always wanted to slap a goat on them

I mainly like them for the variety they provide. In a sea of orange, anything out of the ordinary is good to me. - Jeff Date: 11/24/12 22:20 Re: Requiem for a Smurf Author: bearease dan Wrote:

But in the end, all will be assimilated. |
