TLM begins work on lead at new KC InterModal Facility
Author: JoCoLB

Work was started this week on laying the first of two leads to the west end of the BNSF Railway's developing new Kansas City InterModal Facility (KCIMF) in a rural area of Edgerton, KS, about 30 miles southwest of Kansas City.

I took these pictures of a Track Laying Machine (TLM) today as it was moving eastward about one-half mile west of Four Corners Road. In the foreground are Main One and Main Two of the Emporia Subdivision. The line parallels U.S. 56 highway at this location.

In the far distance in Picture One is where the two new leads will curve into the intermodal center.

It is believed the intermodal facility will be operational late next summer or early fall.

i know a guy who drove(not by choice) one those gantries right off the end of a tie car ... he survived with injuries and eventually went back to work albeit with a huge bankroll in his pocket
