Western Railroad Discussion > CalTrain holiday trainDate: 12/01/12 23:11 CalTrain holiday train Author: althewelder Today was the first night of Caltrain's Holiday train that makes stops at various stations on the peninsula. The Holiday train has not run for the past two years due to budget cuts and lack of sponsors so it was really nice to see it again. Even though it was raining, there was a good turn out at the Redwood City station and everyone was in a good mood. After the train arrived at the station and all of the elves and reindeer got off they had a band and carolers perform on the stage car. I couldn't video tape it because the car was a little to far away from where I was at and the area around the car was packed with people so I couldn't get close enough to get a shot.
It was even better seeing the train this year now that I have my daughter who is 13 months old. Seeing her excitement made the whole experience better for me and my Wife. I hope you like the video. The volunteers who work on it put in many, many hours, crawling under the cars stringing wires etc. And the pre-arrival security concerns aren't trivial either. They have to set up barricades at each station where the train will stop and make sure everyone stays out of harms way. It is quite an operation! A tip of the Santa hat to all involved.

look at the train. I also really appreciate all the hard work the volunteers did to decorate the train -- looks great! That work train caboose never looked so goo! Date: 12/02/12 22:27 Re: CalTrain holiday train Author: cchan006 althewelder Wrote:

It was really nice because the rain slowed down enough that it wasn't a bother.
