Western Railroad Discussion > Talgo? What Talgo?Date: 12/02/12 20:40 Talgo? What Talgo? Author: UPTRAIN First of all, that thing is ugly. Seldom am I at a loss for words, but let's just say we found a rusty broken telescoping mop handle laying by the tracks at CP Holliday, and I really considered gouging my eyeballs out after that Talgo cab car went by. That being said, I'm glad I didn't because I'm not sure how I'd have gotten home since the guy I was with doesn't like driving over 3 miles at a time.
Onto the fun...all photos 12-2-12 around Kansas City. Knowing the Talgo was due soon, we decided to take a little round around town to pass the time and hit up QuikTrip. 1.) We found this tasty treat at Mid-America Car. This one was previously one of the gray stealth units. - Kansas City, MO 2.) Which of these will go back on a functioning locomotive first? Well, the E-Unit radiator hatch will. 3.) CP 270 also had a cool leader today, the only IMRL painted unit on the CP Roster. Pump Date: 12/02/12 20:43 Re: Talgo? What Talgo? Author: UPTRAIN 4.) Ex-ROCK hopper on 270.
5.) Head end of the Talgo at the fuel pad at Argentine. 6.) Middle of the Talgo and the rear buffer cars. Date: 12/02/12 20:45 Re: Talgo? What Talgo? Author: UPTRAIN 7.) Ore train with a pair of Ex-BN SD70MACs at Holliday.
8.) The Talgo at Holliday. 9.) Rear buffer car on the Talgo move. Date: 12/02/12 20:47 Re: Talgo? What Talgo? Author: UPTRAIN 10.) Ore train again at College Boulevard in Olathe, KS.
11.) Grain empty at the same location with another Grinstein. 12.) Light power roadswitcher heads west as a pair of ATSF painted GP50s. Date: 12/02/12 20:49 Re: Talgo? What Talgo? Author: UPTRAIN 13.) Talgo train passes by College Boulevard. One weird looking train.
From there it was off to check out "somebody's" Santa Fe Layout and the house. Hope you enjoyed. Pump Date: 12/02/12 20:54 Re: Talgo? What Talgo? Author: imrl Nice pictures at West Wye Tower. Sure do miss those days. I'm sure me and the former IMRL 208 have crossed patches a few times.

Have all of the second generation SD90MAC-H's like 8544 been cut up now, or are some complete locomotives still hanging around Mid America (or anywhere for that matter)? Date: 12/03/12 04:26 Re: Talgo? What Talgo? Author: rrartist Very nice Sir!

Date: 12/03/12 07:43 Re: Talgo? What Talgo? Author: Milw_E70 Going to the test track in Colorado Double-D.
You guys had a lot better luck than the rest of us! Hardly any light by the time it got to Ottawa. One of these years I'm going to get up to KC for a day that doesn't involve work... Date: 12/03/12 10:30 Re: Talgo? What Talgo? Author: calzephyr48 Hmmm! I thought FRA didn't permit additional cars on Talgo trains due to the strain they place on the structure, resulting in cracks.. I would have thought that would apply in deadhead moves as well..

Dig this. - Jeff Date: 12/03/12 20:21 Re: Talgo? What Talgo? Author: imrl Those are just for handbrakes. I guarantee that the air brakes are 100% functional. They just don't want us employees up there nosing around. And I also guarantee that there is an FRA waiver following this train around.
Date: 12/04/12 10:27 Re: Talgo? What Talgo? Author: Geep I believe that Talgo 8 is different than the previous cascades talgo because this one is FRA compatible. My bets is that before it's certified to go on it's owned, it's being waived by the FRA.
