San Bruno - isolated cars
Author: loopy7764

..well, passenger cars. These three are spotted on track 2009 in the Linden Industrial Park, across from Tanforan. Not easy to take photos inconspicuously. I can't find anything on these cars, any idea of their heritage and how long they've been here?

Guessing the stainless steel sided car is a former Pullman Standard built Santa Fe 44 seat chair car.

The smooth side car is a bit tougher guess with the 4 small windows on the far end.

I have no information about the cars, but from what others have said, the current owners are "extremely unfriendly" to railfans...I was told one railfan attempting to inquire about said cars was escorted off the property and not nicely either.

We had a thread about these a really long time ago. I tried to search for it this morning but did not find it. The older thread had talked about the previous owners. Not good about the reception committee, looks like a tough location to get them out of.

Do they build or customize RV's in that factory? Looks like a large number in the parking lot. Maybe the passenger cars were there for some interior work.

The trackage is isolated - they can't get out

The smooth sided car is a Pullman-Standard 1949-built, aluminum-bodied former "Shasta Daylight" Chair Car from the Southern Pacific, obviously gone to Amtrak.

Those four windows are one clue, and the rivet pattern on the roof is another. True, it's hard to see the taller windows in the close shot.

I took this for reference, as you can see there isn't much opportunity for a broadside shot.
As the guys mentioned earlier, they certainly didn't LOOK friendly, so I didn't bother asking.

Thanks a buch Topfuel!

This is right down the street from my work. They have been there for many years. SP had tracks that use to run through the area before BART took over the right of way. I drive by them every day and always think about stopping in and taking a few photos but haven't yet.

There was a company in the building behind them, All West container company that went out of business about two years ago. I don't know if the rails cars will come with the building for who ever takes it over or if they will get rid of the cars. They don't build RV or Boats there it is just a rental storage yard for peoples toys.
