Western Railroad Discussion > Snow at Easton 12-8-12Date: 12/08/12 22:13 Snow at Easton 12-8-12 Author: BrianA Photographed a BNSF Xtrain at Easton off of Stampede Pass in the snow this morning and chased it to Thorp, WA.
1-2) BNSF 4914/4667 pass through Cabin Creek, WA at 10:55 AM. 3) At Easton with the snow coming down. Brian Ambrose Renton, WA Date: 12/08/12 22:14 Re: Snow at Easton 12-8-12 Author: BrianA Followed the train into the canyon between Cle Elum and Ellensburg and took a few photos there too. Considering there are still few daylight trains over Stampede, I really enjoyed photographing this one.

AL Bayer Date: 12/09/12 17:47 Re: Snow at Easton 12-8-12 Author: chefjavier Great spreader! Only one? It seems odd.

There are a number of slight variations as the fleet was rebuilt, BN built a few if I remember correctly. I understand that BNSF has upgraded them, definitely keeping the fleet in shape. Note that a Jordan Spreader was adapted from a ballast and slope grading machine. I would guess that GN just had to work their own magic for moving snow. There's an interesting Jordan Spreader site with more info: http://www.trainweb.org/JordanSpreader/ |
