Boss, you know that the house that we were moving, well a train hit it.

Here in Southern California, trainwatchers still talk about the time a house-moving project in Highland Park (LA neighborhood northeast of downtown) ran late. The house was still fouling the Santa Fe 2nd District main when either the Super Chief or the local freight came through and turned the house into kindling wood. This was back in the 1950s or 60s.

I hope the train crew had time to duck under the console in case of flying debris (or glass!).

Too bad Cell Phone Girl didn't get out of the car for a better video! That and have a phone that takes GOOD video!

in that incident the house movers were lifting low wires so the house will clear while fouling the crossing

That article says it was a "$2 million piece of oilfield equipment", not a house. Hope the crew fared well and the trucking company get a reaming.

Happened in the 80's, nice group of new SD-40-2's and train plowed through a 2 story house being moved. No cell phones then...............made a lot of kindling, fire wood, and shorter 2X4's than when they started.

I've seen that happen twice in my railroad career!

Did I see that correctly? The crossing gate arm appeared to be still on its way down when the train entered the crossing.

Gate was hung up on the trailer (look right at the beginning of the vid) which is probably why it was stopped.

I'd agree it was oil field (or nat gas) drilling equipment - we see those types of trailers all the time when they're sinking a new fracking well here in N. TX.

It is up against the obstructing load so not even all the way down.

No, you didn't see it correctly. The crossing gate was resting on top of the piece of equipment, then floated the rest of the way down when said equipment was violently removed.

Not hearing the brakes go into emergency and not hearing the horn, I wonder if the crew was already hauling ass back to the rear unit or in some other way protecting themselves.

The brakes were already in emergency before the video ever started and the crew was on the floor of the first unit riding it out. Photos show the engineers side of the trailing unit was torn up badly. No photos of the lead unit.
