50 yd. line view of a derailment
Author: santafe199

A few days ago TO member "upg" was asking if anyone got photos of the empty coal train derailment in near Hanover, KS. I stumbled onto that scene in search of of a suitable photo location for AAPRCO Special's trek from North Platte to Kansas City yesterday (20th). It would appear that a rural Kansas farm family had a virtual "50 yard line" view of the derailment which was actually at Spence, KS. Spence is a crossover plant west of Hanover, KS on the Marysville Sub.

1. 2. & 3. Three views of the UP derailment aftermath at Spence, KS. These shots were taken from behind a ranch spread on Spence Ave, just west of Xavier Rd in Washington County, KS. Taken May 20, 2013.

Thanks for looking!

Don't think so. More likely something hit it.
