Here is Thursday's local to Guadalupe climbing uphill from Refugio State Beach in the waning minutes of sunlight on the U.P. Coast Line.

I've been wanting to nail this shot for a while. But, there isn't a lot of traffic on this line and when trains do go through this spot the light isn't great. The northbound Starlight climbs this hill just after noon, and the local usually comes through when it's dark. But yesterday the local was running an hour ahead of its usual time, so I hightailed it out here in the hopes I could catch the train before the sun dipped below the horizon. And everything worked out swell.

The sun went down a minute, or maybe two, after I took this shot. It was really down to the wire. I got there 30 to 45 minutes before the train and I was praying the train would make it there in time. Fortunately it did.
