Simpson: Goldsborough Creek
Author: loleta

There are, if I'm counting correctly, six crossings of Goldsborough Creek, counting those inside and just outside the mill in Shelton. Here are photos of three of them:
1. 1200 leads a log train across the North Fork just east of Dayton.
2. Between Carmen Road and Shelton, this one requires a bit of walking.
3. 900 leads a string of empty log cars back toward Shelton, shown here just west of town.

Is this anywhere near "7 Bridges Road"?

Simpson's American crane helped out with a salmon restoration project on Goldsborough Creek, hauling in felled trees to create spawning pools. An earlier project involving the installation of a new culvert under the tracks brought spawning salmon back to a tributary for the first time in nearly a century.
1. Loading trees onto a log car east of Shelton.
2. Unloading the tress a short distance up the line.
3. The crane ducks into a siding to allow 1200 to pass by on the afternoon run to the sort yard.

All of your pictures of Simpson have been excellent, especially because of the details. Very neat to see the crane operations.

Excellent pictures of the Simpson operation, LF. I like how they adopted a Burlington Northern number style along the hood of their switchers.

In response to a previous question, Simpson runs M - F. I've heard they run Saturdays, but cannot confirm.
