Switchers at Roosevelt Road (Chicago IL)
Author: erielackawanna

While watching trains at the Roosevelt Road yesterday morning between ten AM and Noon I heard some radio chatter that got me curious.

There was a YC3 and a YC7 working at the time. It sounded like YC3 might have been the Dash 8 working down by Canal Street and that YC7 might have been hostling P42s around. Just curious, does that sound right? (The symbols sounded familiar to the LA ones, like YL120 and YL220.)

There was also a BNSF Geep switching Metra cars. Anyone know what job this was (symbol and name)? I did hear someone say "In the clear 189" but I don't know if that was him or something completely unrelated.

Many thanks from a visiting LA railfan.

Charles
