Then & now with the Spirit of Joe Snider
Author: NH2006

Joe Snider's memorial was today. Many spoke and laughed at all of the stories of train Joe told to so many non-railfans. It was wonderful.

As I left his church, which is very near the BNSF Front Range Sub in Westminster, I heard a train! Sure enough, a coal empty was headed north towards Broomfield, CO. So I gave chase so I might replicate this set from Joe. I have no idea what year he shot these in Boulder, BN serving the Valmont coal plant....

4-5. I got to Boulder just in time. Notice how much has changed!

6. Then I got one of my favorite shots!

Got up to Longmont for another set of old and new images....as close as I could manage anyway. Note the red maple is STILL ALIVE!

Finally, chased them up to Longs Peak siding for a meet with a LAUDEN.

Thank you for a fun and poignant chase Joe. We miss you here.

On a related note, I found what may be Joe's earliest images of Cheyenne, 90% UP steam 10% turbines! I need help with the year, so check out Nostalgia Forum shortly....
