Western Railroad Discussion > Best of both worldsDate: 05/22/16 06:26 Best of both worlds Author: santafe199 Let’s take a roll call: How many model RR hobby shops within “TO Land” have a major Class 1 railroad artery passing within 50 feet (give or take) of their front door? Doc’s Caboose at the corner of Hickory St & Union Ave in Kansas City, MO is one of those places. Next time you’re in the KCMO area check it out…
1. UP 7081 leads a manifest past the Doc’s Caboose hobby shop in Kansas City’s West Bottoms on February 4, 2016. Look directly above the 7081’s cab for the vertical Doc’s sign. Thanks for looking! JB Date: 05/22/16 09:21 Re: Best of both worlds Author: BruceStikkers Lombard Hobbies (Chicago suburb) has the Great Western Trail (ex Chicago Great Western Line) right out back and the UP (ex CNW) line out of Proviso Yard going west just across the street from the front door. The Great Western Trail even has a bridge across the UP so you can go up and take pictures. Buy trains/watch trains/photograph trains, what could be better.
