The second of three installments of the Tehachapi portion of our western railfan journey covers the Bealvlle area, a location the subject of recent concern over accessibility. We received permission from the local ranch owner to drive up above the south portal of tunnel 5 where we spent a couple of hours with the morning sun behind us shining down on the tracks below..

1. Southbound BNSF intermodal led by eight units approaches tunnel 3.
2. Same train passing where tunnel 4 existed before the earthquake which led to daylighting the tunnel..
3. Northbound BNSF manifest meets southbound UP intermodal.

4. Southbound UP intermodal passes through tunnel 3.
5. Same train exiting tunnel 5.
6. Northbound BNSF intermodal approaches tunnel 5 at north end of Cliff siding.

7. Southbound UP manifest awaits a meet at Bealville with Missouri Pacific unit in consist.

9. Southbound BNSF intermodal enters tunnel 3.
