Western Railroad Discussion > Super Bowl 1984Date: 01/31/17 22:06 Super Bowl 1984 Author: JLKirk This was the SP's Super Bowl Train at Mogul, just west of Sparks, Nevada early in the morning on the 19th of January, 1985 bound for Palo Alto and Stanford University. The consist was 8365 and two SDP-45s from the Bay Area commute pool followed by cars 295, 298, 292, 290, 291, 117-Tuscon, 131-Los Angeles, 15-Pine Bluff, 99-Houston, 141-Oakland, 100-Airslie, and 140-Stanford. Asking for permission to leave Sparks, the engineer asked for permission to depart, to which the Sparks tower replied "Gentlemen, the railroad is yours". Photo by Joel Kirk.
