Just more auto racks headed down the coast
Author: SCUfoamer

Another sunny and 70 day here is sunny San Jose, California. Get to enjoy the morning with JMF1910 as we shot Amtrak's Coast Starlight #11 through San Jose. The Starlight was then followed by more Auto Repos down the coast.

1. Coast Starlight #11 passes the autos at Newhall yard on the Coast mainline
2. Amtrak 11 through CP lick with a UP patrol officer looking on. He was very nice and let us do our thing...thats because we were nice and polite to him :)
3. Autos moving south with Downtown San Jose in the background

Looks like not much clearance between the trains in your first photo. Is it because of the angle and zoom of the picture?

I stopped going to location in photo #2 because of the fence, but nice going with finding an angle there. Even better job finding the angle from the other side!

Caught quite a few interesting trains (Lots of weird Amtrak #11 leaders like Dash 8, UP, and also a grain train "repo") at that location. Good times.

The fence is absolutely terrible. They have surrounded Roseville yard with the crap too. Luckily enough homeless people travel over the tacks at Comm Hill that there is room in the fence to cross the tracks. You're right, not the best location anymore.
