New Mexico - Natives and Visitors
Author: kyrasmus

The week before last I was down in the Land of Enchantment and had a fun afternoon with a fleet of eastbounds fighting up the Abo Canyon grade on BNSF's transcon.

The 652 was in it's native habitat on former Santa Fe rails leading a Clovis-bound auto train.

Behind was a Kansas City-bound manifest with a sojurning CSX SD50 heading for home rails.

A race was ensuing further down the canyon with a detouring UP Long Beach-Dallas intermodal taking on an eastbound BNSF baretable.

The next morning in Albuqueque another native Santa Fe geep (2229) was arriving with a short, hot cut of intermodal for the ramp. Can anyone on here tell me if this is a regular move or did BNSF run a special for the UPS traffic?

Regular move for Albuquerque Transfer job ex Belen Flyer. The Werner pig probably came from a Chicago set out and the 3pk stack with a single is the usual ABQ block from the EB Northbay.

Here is a short video of #2316 leaving the ATSF 2926 engine house after appearing at the annual open house last September:
