Friday afternoon hike on Cuesta

The EB empty autos were able to get out of the Bay area ahead of the tardy AMTK #11. They made great time down the Coast are seen here descending through Serrano siding about 10 miles from their crew change point in San Luis Obisbo.

Beautiful shot! The green hills look good on Cuesta. Are the autos a regular train down to Coast Line these days? What other freights are regulars up and down the Coast Line besides the TankTrain?

Always love seeing what part of the Coast Line you decide to photograph. Russ, the autos are pretty regular at this point. Not necessarily daily but pretty frequent. The Guadalupe hauler goes as far as Guadalupe (go figure) about 30 miles south of SLO 4 times a week, twice up twice down. That's about it for regular freights though. Just the cans, autos, and Guadalupe.

That's a great shot that shows why Serrano was shortened.  The old east switch was about 5 car lengths east of the head end. You can see the slippage at the head end and then the other area about 10 cars back.
