1. It wasn't entirely all moving trains, as we took in several static displays along the way--this one of SantaFe equipment proud and clean at Winslow AZ

2. BNSF 8585 with a NS standard cab and 1077 in early BNSF paint cross the mighty bridge at Topoc AZ--just didn't seem to be a clean shot for trains in this direction with all the temporary housing and camping

3. At Indio CA finally got far enough ahead to shoot UP 8112-CSX 3398-UP 4163 KG4LB

4. With a CSX DPU bring up the rear

5. The next day was a visit to the Blue Cut area to find UP 8945-4055-8685-2747 ZLADV on the upper level at Swarthout Canyon Rd

6. Just a few minutes behind it was UP 2591-8069-8657-8079 MWCRVC approaching Swarthout Canyon Rd

7. With barely enough time to walk down the road a bit, BNSF 8154-5060 climb Blue Cut with a UP DPU visible in the background just above the bench

8. Again BNSF 8154 on the move at Summit Cajon

9. While BNSF 7756-7722-7711-7714-7756 (lot of 7s) waits its turn to go down the hill to San Bernardino.

Nice series Brian! You brought back lots of good memories of Swarthout Canyon Rd area, spent lots of time there in the late 1990's and early 2000's. It's changed quite a bit since those days. Know the crossing well where you took the UP train on the Palmdale Cutoff.
