Shining Time Station 844 Opening & Ending Show Credits
Author: cornerfieldhobby

With recent videos of 844 running, made me think back to when I was little and remember watching Shining Time Station. Well looking back at that, I always wonder 2 things. Where were the opening credits and closing credit scenes with the 844 filmed? Were they done in Cheyenne?

I believe they were scenes from the UP program entitled Eighty Four Forty Four.
The helicopter scene during the end credits is following the engine on a fantrip.
Not sure where the scenes were taken.

Corrections appreciated.

I just watched the opening credits again. The scene where the engine
is moving forward with her cylinder cocks open is definitely Cheyenne
because if you look in front of her on the left, you can see the UP
passenger depot in Cheyenne.

The sequences from the helicopter were taken on a Denver-Sterling excursion trip. The train was on the now abandoned trackage heading toward LaSalle. The trips were in the early '80's.

Kennard, thank you. Late '70s would be closer.
