Seattle - Carkeek Park Today
Author: gsnyder

Carkeek Park in Seattle was very active earlier today - mostly due to the first low, low tide of the Spring. A nice long container train with 3-2 power glided by and distracted some of the beach goers.

1. Head end at the signals south of the park
2. Head end entering the curve just south of the pedestrian bridge
3. Coming out of the curve - from the pedestrian bridge.

More pics:

4. The 'in your face' shot of the lead unit
5. DPU's after passing under the bridge
6. A view of the head end and DPU's in one picture.

I guess I've been retired too long but I had to get out my old timetable to jog my memory
of the name of the control point that 7003 is about to pass under: Blue Ridge. More specifically,
the westward absolute signal at Blue Ridge. Eastward signals are just out of frame to the right.
Nice series.

It hasn't been there all that long. Sound Transit paid for Blue Ridge as part of getting service between Seattle and Everett in 2003.

When I saw the "Carkeek Park" headline I expected to see photos of a VIA Budd dome-obs. Couldn't figure out why one of them would be in Seattle.

Used to live in Seattle, looking at how close houses are to each other also reminds me of why I left. Nice pictures use to go down there and relax watching things nice park.
