Pausing at Topeka
Author: santafe199

As railfans we’ve all experienced times when a RR situation arises and we just can’t figure out what is going on. These times can be a complete mystery. But once in a while such a mysterious situation can benefit us as photographers. I have no idea why this coal train stopped here in Topeka. 3+ decades in train service allows me to make a couple of educated guesses. But since I just happened to have a tripod available, the railfan in me will forego the guesswork and happily take the opportunity for some night photography…

1. UP 7311 is stopped on the main line with eastbound coal loads at the yard office in Topeka, KS on June 27, 2013.

Thanks for looking!

I remember that night well. Warbonnets like crazy on the Transcon, my first NS heritage unit and then this shot.
