The Equipment at Burnham Yard is NOT available for donation
Author: rrpreservation

It has come to my attention that entities have been offering the railroad equipment owned by Marcus Rail and the Museum of Railway Workers for donation that are located at Burnham Yard in Denver..

I want to assure you all that is not the case. The two entities still own the equipment and have not asked anyone or group to donate its equipment. I'm sorry if you all were mislead about this activity.

Had I know sooner of this activity I would've stopped it earlier.

With the UPRR having taken possession of this equipment per rrpreservation's remark in the above link, would there be a possibility the equipment be saved and moved to Limon, CO to museum trackage there? I'd hope between the KYLE RR and the museum there that the equipment would be kept from the torch.

Everyone wants to see the equipment saved, even the UP. The issue is really who owns it.

Let's suppose someone owns a car and they loan it to a friend.

While the friend possesses the car, he/she does not own it. They can't sell it or give it away.

But I believe the only resolution to the issue will come from a discussion about the equipment between the companies and the Union Pacific.

And it was PURCHASED by IRM, not donated. UP did provide free rail transportation from Denver to Union for the bridge, but IRM had to strip it, hire the cranes to load it and truck the motors, pit rails and other accessories to the Museum. A pretty big outlay but it was the last real chance we had to get a table big enough to hold every loco in our collection.

Donations to offset the above costs and eventually get a giant concrete pit done for it to sit and spin in greatly appreciated: www.irm.org
