Western Railroad Discussion > Washington & Idaho Railway in the DitchDate: 07/21/17 23:14 Washington & Idaho Railway in the Ditch Author: funnelfan Washington & Idaho Railway has a BNSF Shuttle train in the ditch between Plaza and Spangle, WA. I'm not sure, but I think that may be the DPU power on a loaded train. They had washouts and soft roadbed problems here for a long time.

Larry Date: 07/22/17 13:43 Re: Washington & Idaho Railway in the Ditch Author: dsrc512 A week ago, a sister railroad, Dakota Southern Railway, derailed 14 cars at 26 mph. The first derailed car was the 25th car in a BNSF shuttle train. Cause was probably a sun kink as the air temperature was 100 degrees.
Alex Huff Date: 07/22/17 22:52 Re: Washington & Idaho Railway in the Ditch Author: funnelfan Went by there today. They have three cars over on their side shoved off the track. The DPU power is back somewhere else. and the headend power and a dozen cars were cut off to clear a crossing.
