Western Railroad Discussion > UP 844 Departs Denver This morningDate: 07/22/17 09:15 UP 844 Departs Denver This morning Author: mojaveflyer This morning I headed down towards Denver this morning to catch the departure of UP 844 on it's annual Cheyenne Frontier Days train to Cheyenne. Since I had a commitment later today I couldn't follow him north. After the 844 departed, an empty Colorado Springs Utility coal train follow him. I moved over the BNSF main for the Brush Sub to catch a couple of trains as well. I caught the hot Z Denver Chicago departing and a coal empty following him with a surprise tacked on the rear of the train.
Photo #1- UP 844 passes the connection for the former Rock Island Belt Line as it heads north. That's the Denver skyline in the background. Photo #2- An empty Colorado Springs Utility train departs Denver to return to the mines. Photo #3- The Z Denver Chicago departs Denver for it's daily trip to Chicago on the BNSF's Brush Sub. Two more photos in Part II. It's the Hudson Turn running light power to Hudson to pick up a train.
Photo #5- The DPU came by on the rear of the empty with the trailing unit still having a BNSF logo still on the nose of the SD-70MAc trailing the consist. Thanks for looking and I'm sure there'll be a lot of great photos posted from those who were able to follow the UP 844 today! Todd Busse Date: 07/22/17 10:11 Re: UP 844 Departs Denver This Morning - Part II Author: callum_out Image 1 is a worthless over compressed telephoto shot and is totally excellent!! Proving that
there's a spot for everything!! Hell, you even managed to hide most of the diesel, very nice! Out Date: 07/22/17 12:22 Re: UP 844 Departs Denver This Morning - Part II Author: SP8595 Nice shots! You actually got Sun on what was a mostly cloudy morning. Cool Wagon Wheel as well.

Date: 07/23/17 13:53 Re: UP 844 Departs Denver This morning Author: skyview Good job on the 1st image. Just what is the focal length? Cropped or full frame sensor?
Date: 07/23/17 17:32 Re: UP 844 Departs Denver This morning Author: mojaveflyer I shot these using my Canon T6s cropped sensor body with a Canon 100 - 400 mm "L" lens, the zoom was about 250 mm.... Thanks to everybody for the kind words!
James Nelson Thornton, CO www.flickr.com/mojaveflyer Date: 07/24/17 14:45 Re: UP 844 Departs Denver This morning Author: skyview Ahhh so around 375mm, thanks! Longest I have is 300mm and looked longer (full frame so no crop benefit).
Date: 07/24/17 15:04 Re: UP 844 Departs Denver This morning Author: mojaveflyer I have a full frame 5D MkII and the T6s. I bought the T6s cropped sensor with the intent of using it on the longer lenses to act as a multiplier...
