Western Railroad Discussion > Canadian Pacific in Iowa, minus one ditch lightDate: 07/27/17 15:54 Canadian Pacific in Iowa, minus one ditch light Author: alco636 Last June I visited family. Along my drive I encountered a CP train near Ossian, IA. On June 8th I drove past this nice S curve, and wished I could be lucky enough to catch a train. I kept driving to Calmar, where I saw a CP eastbound waiting. Just as I arrived it whistled (horned?) off. So I headed back to the curves at Ossian. As luck would have it, one ditch light was burned out, making the photos look odd. Ah well, the railfan gods are laughing at me.

Grain and ethanol mostly,,I think its around 4-6 trains a day. With the recent purges CP only has a couple of dozen SD40-2s left. They do have the SD30C-ECOs and the SD60/SD60M locomotives but they are scattered system-wide.
