Just Before the Monsoon
Author: twjurgens

Fellow TO er, WPJONES called around noon yesterday and said that a tie gang was working on the spur to the scrap yard north of Havelock, NE. Got there too late to see that but did find BNSF 650 and 3020 switching. Got the shots just before the monsoon struck....3 inches in an hour and a half.

That's some heavy duty switch power!

Looks like a picture from 10 years ago. Great contrast with the locos in cloudy conditions!

What a catch and two really nice photos! That Warbonnet
looks great, and even even has "Santa Fe" on her flanks,
not "BNSF", and the BN Cascade Green engine looks great,
too! BN-SF! The overcast really made the colors stand out.

SO glad you got these excellent photos before the
deluge! THREE INCHES of rain in an our and a half???
Goodness gracious!! That IS a monsoon, indeed!
Kinda makes me think Mama Nature expects you folks
to grow gills -- or start building arks! <G> Out here
on the SF Peninsula, we get only 18 inches in a year
on average, and very rarely get more than an inch of
rain in a day or so, and a good hard rain lasts only
about 15 minutes or so. (Yup -- we're real "weather
wimps" out here! <G>)
