PTC Special
Author: twjurgens

Three UP specials over the last week and a half must be some sort of record in Nebraska. Now that I think about it though, it seems like there were 5 trips with 844 in 1991 over a 2 or 3 week period culminating with Camerail's trip from Omaha, NE to Marysville, KS.

The last one that I know of for now happened today when a PTC Special was operated from Omaha to Columbus and return. I'm sure some testing was going on but my understanding is that it was also an employee appreciation trip for engineering.

Power for the 15 car special was 2470 and 2571. Included in the train was mobile laboratory car UPP 210 and the six domes.

The first shot is westbound at North Bend. The next 2 are at Rogers.

The first shot here is the mobile the Mobile Laboratory, UPP 210 west of Rogers and the last shot is of the train eastbound at Schulyler.

With the Nebraska 150 Special, the UP Museum Special, and this one, there won't be an AKSARBEN Special this year but we'll look forward to that next year.

Hats off to UP for running these specials!

Super nice photos Tom. Really like the Schuyler shot and thanks for being out there and catching all the equipment.

Having all six dome cars together is kind of cool. BSB

Looks like most if not all of the UP Museum Special that they ran last weekend to Columbus and back, except for the rear gallery car.
