Western Railroad Discussion > New Photo Location on Portland and Western - RDC's

There is a new alignment of Tonquin Road on the Portland and Western. The "at-grade" crossing is being eliminated and the road is now 500 - 1,000 feet south of the old alignment. It nows passes over the P&W on an overpass. The road just opened in the last week. I got a few photos of the SB morning run of the RDC"s this morning. Tonquin Rd. is located south of Tualatin and north of Wilsonville off Grahams Ferry Road.

1. & 2. RDC's at the old Tonquin Rd. crossing just south of the old Oregon Electric substation.

3. RDC's about to pass under the new Tonquin Rd overcrossing.

You've gotten a number of photos pf the RDC's out and about: do they run on a regular basis, and if so is there a specific train/schedule they are used on?

They have been running on a pretty regular basis. They run when a DMU is in the shop.

Here's a copy of the schedule. The RDC's make 2 trips in the morning and 2 in the evening when they run.

The yellow highlight ed time are the RDC's.

Finally got her opened up. Im looking forward to 124th getting punched through to Tualatin Sherwood hwy. The grading has been underway for some time now. If only I5 south through Wilsonville wasn't a 12 hour jam everyday, I'd take tonquin rd almost every night.

Cool to see the Alaska units out. I actually see them quite often out running.
