Meet at Castle Hot Springs
Author: arizonaBNSF

Here's a Phoenix bound vehicle train in the siding at Castle Hot Springs on the BNSF Phoenix Sub after meeting a Z-PHXWSP. This was back in June of this year. Both trains had a Citirail unit on them and they were one number off from each other. Z train had 1425, V train had 1424. It ended being a scorcher of a day, but it was still somewhat pleasant early in the morning when these were taken.

Castle Hot Springs was called Vulture when it was built around 1895 since it was where minerals from the lucrative Vulture Mine were shipped from. Later it became known as Hot Springs Junction since it was a stop for travels heading to the well known Castle Hot Springs resort a few miles east in search of health and relaxation from the natural hot springs at that location. Sometime in the 1920s, the siding was renamed Castle Hot Springs to better reflect its status as the station stop for the resort.
