Western Railroad Discussion > Fun While it Lasted, the 'Railbeast' RepaintedDate: 09/26/17 08:42 Fun While it Lasted, the 'Railbeast' Repainted Author: Scone_Empire The UP 2519, the tiger-painted SD60M which has become an online sensation in the past week, has been repainted into Primer Grey paint. Oddly enough, most of the tiger stripes on the roof remain, but a majority of the carbody just looks like an 'undecorated' locomotive. As of this morning, the information known is that the unit was transferred from Lund, UT, to Provo, UT, via an empty coal train, the CLBWE.

After all, they do have people going by it at all hours of the day 7 days a week. Now the "Rail Beast" is scheduled to go to Jenks for a full UP repaint.

It is indeed billed for a full repaint at Jenks (North Little Rock). It shows to have departed Lund, UT, last night at 22:35 MDT, and arrived in Provo, UT, at 05:03. Got picked up by the CLBWE9-22. Hell, they posted a youtube video showing how they painted it! The mystery now is who is INDECLINE, and can UP (who put out a 'bounty' on them) can get youtube to give up any of their IP info, etc to attempt to track them down.

UP lets all of those graffiti covered locos roam around the LA area every day for thousands of people to see, but takes fairly quick action to cover one graffiti covered loco parked out in the middle of nowhere in the desert, seen by few!

But this one was probably seen by thousands, as it is all over other media; see a post above this one. Maybe even tens of thousands. Different situation than other graffiti painted locos. The most unique thing to happen to an engine since the NS Heritage Program, and they gray blast it within a week! COME ON!

I get why UP had to repaint it in primer, but it's a shame they had to do it.

I completely agree with the other poster about the Los Angeles power that is obliterated with graffiti. UP has let those eye sores run like that for years for lots and lots of people to see on a daily basis. They don't seem to care about the image that presents for their company, but have a cow about a tiger in the middle of nowhere. Seems odd to me.
