Western Railroad Discussion > Motley trio of pics from last SundayDate: 10/17/17 07:09 Motley trio of pics from last Sunday Author: oyw I didn't spend much time out last Sunday morning, just long enough to photograph three very dissimilar subjects.
1) At first light from the Swarthout Road crossing at Blue Cut in Cajon Pass, BNSF 8327 and a pair of NS GE's lead an eastbound stack train of mostly JB Hunt containers. Even with the busy Christmas rush, pool power on the BNSF into Southern California has remained very scarce. 2) Thanks to a suggestion from a friend, I drove home via San Bernardino Ave along the south side of California Steel Industries in Fontana, to see if any switch engines were in view. Maybe not the best of angles but I did find unit 32-011, wearing a new white paint scheme, parked in a shootable location. Not a lot of information out there, but I think this is an ex-Southern SW1500. 3) Then it was up to CP Rochester on Metrolink's San Gabriel Sub where train #354 was underway from its Rancho Cucamonga station stop. With SCAX 853 leading a near matching set of cars, this old F59PH may soon be out of a job as the new F125's start service. Thank you for looking.
