Union Pacific Freight: Mankato, Minnesota

UP Freight southbound across Industrial Road in Mankato, Minnesota, at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday, November 7, 2017. No information on train name, origin, or destination as I was simply out railfanning while visiting family from my home in New York. Additional information would be appreciated. The intent here was to capture the crossing gate bell, the classic long, long, short, long of the locomotive horn, to frame each individual car as well as the lead and trailing engines and the closing of the gate. The original 5 minute video had to be trimmed somewhat to meet Trainorders’ requirements.

Nice to see a video from my old home town. Thanks for posting.

I was surprised and impressed by the level of railroad activity in town: Industrial switchers, a CP Inspection train came through and frequent yard action. Why would anyone leave such a nice town?

That engine sure sounds and looks like an Alco!
