Does GE still own the rights to the EMD 645 and that business?

What????? What would GE have to do with the EMD GM two-stroke cycle diesel engine, regardless of cubic inch displacement?

They had manufacturing rights, believe some of the parts were coming out of Eastern Europe.

I remember when Steve Taylor was running the Hill AFB locomotive shop he had a couple of GE sourced 645s
in his rebuild program. He remarked that the bulkheads were significantly heavier than the EMD originals.

I think GE only made the (modified) F block which was beefed up for the MP36 program.  I could be in error.

He was buying parts from time to time from MPI, could have come from them.
