Western Railroad Discussion > Grain Train finally leaves EugeneDate: 11/22/17 06:43 Grain Train finally leaves Eugene Author: CBRL Last night the BNSF grain train that had been sitting in the yard in Eugene finally headed south after having five mid-train DPUs cut in. Second in consist is an SD70MACe, a new unit for me. On the siding is the RVPT I believe, waiting to head into the yard. Apologies for the dark photo.
Still not awake! Location is Natron, south of Springfield, Oregon at CP VP 616. Tom Trent Eugene, OR Edited 3 time(s). Last edit at 11/22/17 07:03 by CBRL. Date: 11/22/17 07:45 Re: Grain Train finally leaves Eugene Author: RyanWilkerson Thanks for the photo. Hopefully I'll be able to see it when it gets to Dunsmuir (MP 321). Anyone have a current location?

Nice catch! Posted from iPhone Date: 11/22/17 07:57 Re: Grain Train finally leaves Eugene Author: fresno Called out at Dunsmuir for 0830 this morning. Also a sb grain train currently at Brooklyn Yd showing CEFX/CP power.

Tom Trent Eugene, OR Date: 11/22/17 08:04 Re: Grain Train finally leaves Eugene Author: ntharalson Second unit looks like an SD70MAC, and not an ACe. And a "Warpeach" leading. I'd thought
BNSF had gotten those all repainted. Nick Tharalson, Marion, IA Date: 11/22/17 08:15 Re: Grain Train finally leaves Eugene Author: CBRL The second unit read SD70MACe on the side. I liked the Pale Rider leader.

Date: 11/22/17 10:07 Re: Grain Train finally leaves Eugene Author: RyanWilkerson Saw it through Dunsmuir this morning about 9am. No midtrain DPUs...just a single DPU on the rear facing backwards. Train had a lot of the grey COGX hoppers but the second half of the train had some blue Alberta and red Canada cylindricals. Also an IC grey and IC brown mixed in.

I think this was just mostly a program to replace the traction motors and computer (something like that)? More of a refreshing than a rebuild, if I recall correctly. Date: 11/22/17 11:56 Re: Grain Train finally leaves Eugene Author: Scone_Empire What's the intended destination of this train? I ask that simply because of the BNSF detours that have passed through Idaho and Utah in these last few days.
