Nice shot with a Warbonnet on the point. Second unit trying to give a steam engine effect.

Nice photo. Possibly a NREX SD50 second out, BNSF was leasing them for a while. I have always thought of the Highline as the GN in Montana. At least among us rails no one refers to the Colombia River sub as the highline.

I wroked in Havre and Spokane and never heard it called Highline. However, the track between Everett Jct and PA Jct was called the highline.

Nice shot...Gacier DS refers to every thing east of Whitefish as the Highline Sub. Without going to my truc for the book I think it changes at Cut Bank to Havre East

The rent-a-wreck era! Yeah, probably one of the ex-CNW SD50s. They also had tunnel motors (40 and 45s; SP and Rio Grande), ex-Conrail SD50s, ex-CP high-nose SD40-2s, and ex-UP/MP SD40-2s without dynamics, all floating around at the same time. A good time to be trackside.
