Western Railroad Discussion > Tehachapi DerailmentDate: 02/17/18 07:44 Tehachapi Derailment Author: zchcsse Looks like a BNSF manifest put about 6 cars on the ground just below Cable in the Tunnel District.
It happened overnight and I'd assume nothing will be running over the mountain for the day. -Tom Posted from iPhone Date: 02/17/18 08:13 Re: Tehachapi Derailment Author: GP25 We might get a few Freights on the Coast Line Route
Jerry Martin Los Angeles, CA Central Coast Railroad Festival Date: 02/17/18 12:12 Re: Tehachapi Derailment Author: sanjacmodels Here today some photos from my truck of derailment lead engine was 7055 pull the front half up tehachapi siding
tom Date: 02/17/18 12:14 Re: Tehachapi Derailment Author: sanjacmodels there was five trains back up down the hill from bakersfield
Date: 02/17/18 17:34 Re: Tehachapi Derailment Author: cajon Train was the MODBAR.
Wine for all workers. Dennis Posted from iPhone Date: 02/17/18 17:40 Re: Tehachapi Derailement Author: HogheadMike Five Northbound freights on the coastline tomorrow. A couple of West Colton to Roseville trains and a couple of West Colton to Klamath Falls trains with a military special showing departing Camp Roberts as well. Nothing for southbounds showing.
Date: 02/17/18 18:14 Re: Tehachapi Derailment Author: Barstool Sooner now and later, both BNSF and UP will run monster manifests to save money and make more cash, but the problem is...these trains are too big and are asking for trouble....Blocking them is the main problem...Its the same problem over and over again.
With six units on the MOFBAR..the 7055-7357-8269-7168-8060-5411 as the power setup as three and three, all you need is a few emties spotted between heavy loads and it becomes a possible derailment. Date: 02/17/18 19:00 Re: Tehachapi Derailment Author: cajon There are 14 trains on the mountain waiting. I don't know if that is counting the trains on the BNSF side. Ballast train from WC on the way and will hold at cable.
Dennis Posted from iPhone Date: 02/17/18 21:15 Re: Tehachapi Derailment Author: MP683 It’s a good thing that our rules show what the placement needs to be to make our trains safe.
We spend a bunch of time on this in rules class. Computer also is setup to find this when creating the train or past AEI readers and to alert the bosses of placement is wrong. Dennis Posted from iPhone Date: 02/18/18 03:59 Re: Tehachapi Derailment Author: howeld Ha no wonder. I had the webcam on all morning and didn't see a thing.
Btw there is now a webcam at cable on YouTube. Posted from iPhone Date: 02/18/18 09:38 Re: Tehachapi Derailment Author: zchcsse At 0930 on Sunday, it sounds like they are just about to start running trains. 6 northbound Z trains, then they'll start going southbound.
Posted from iPhone Date: 02/18/18 11:07 Re: Tehachapi Derailment Author: howeld First northbound Z by the camera.
