Western Railroad Discussion > NS Top Gons on the UPDate: 02/22/18 12:26 NS Top Gons on the UP Author: PALuvR I received quite a surprise this morning at N. Bergstrom on the UP Austin Sub - a solid train of NS Top Gons with UP power. Which brought to mind a couple of questions:
a) Had these been loads of Appalachian coal? b) Where were they unloaded before heading back north? I appreciate y'all taking a look. Thanks. Mike 1. NB coal empties hauled by UP 4417 and 7216 2. I believe this business began in 2016 .From St. Louis east these trains are handled by NS.
