Western Railroad Discussion > Two Flavors of Missouri RRs in One ShotDate: 03/13/18 17:36 Two Flavors of Missouri RRs in One Shot Author: ATSF2921 Here's a shot I can finally cross off my list. The lone Missouri & Northern Arkansas (MNA) switch job here in Springfield, MO crosses over Main St after passing by the ex-MoPac combination freight and passenger depot, which is now a youth center. The MNA works industries along the ex-MoPac branch line and interchanges traffic with BNSF in the mid town yard. For those with inquiring minds, the crossing signals in very far right background in front of the locomotive are for BNSF.
Thanks for looking. Russell Honey Springfield, MO My Flickr page Date: 03/13/18 18:13 Re: Two Flavors of Missouri RRs in One Shot Author: Sterk That's a great scene, nicely done!

Date: 03/13/18 18:27 Re: Two Flavors of Missouri RRs in One Shot Author: FriscoKid THIS IS SO ABSOLUTELY COOL! I grew up in Springfield as a "Frisco Kid" and my daughter is a Student at Missouri State (still SMS to me). I was always a little annoyed that the MOP had a presence at all in Springfield, but these days, seeing any rail activity in that part of the town is welcome and that's a dandy looking locomotive. I still scavenge around where the former Frisco depot stood. It would have almost made it into your shot, had it survived.
Thank you so much for this unexpected treat. Mark Date: 03/13/18 20:21 Re: Two Flavors of Missouri RRs in One Shot Author: SCKP187 Nice shot. Certainly is an outside job for the MN&A crew.
Brian Stevens Date: 03/13/18 22:11 Re: Two Flavors of Missouri RRs in One Shot Author: ATSF2921 You're welcome! I've always thought Springfield was a 1 railroad town until last year after moving down here I learned about MoPac's "invasion" as it might seem to Frisco fans. MNA's SW1200 here has become my favorite subject lately.
BTW, my wife is originally from Springfield and was a student at Missouri State. She, too, sometimes refers to it as SMS.
