Looking for remaining Searchlight Signals on the Sunset Route
Author: DevalDragon

I have been doing some research trying to find remaining searchlight signals on the former SP Sunset Route. It looks like the area around the California / Arizona border still has them - specifically Yuma and Wellton Arizona. Are these still in place or have the new signals been cut in?

Are there any other locations I should know about?

There are still searchlights around Gila Bend eastward up to Shawmut.

This was what we saw last month for SearchLights:

Gila Sub
  • Fortuna (SP 743) to Noah Siding.  New Signals are in place, however were not cut in.
  • Piedra W (SP 839) and Pierda E (SP 841)
  • Theba W (SP 845) and Theba E (SP 847)
  • Gila Bend W (SP 854), Set in the middle next to the road crossing, and Gila Bend E (SP 857)
  • Bosque W (SP 862) and Bosque E (SP 864)
  • Shawmut W (SP 869) and Shawmut E (SP 870)
Phoenix Sub
  • Non-Absolute Signals between CP PX977 to Magma Jct.
  • Between Magma Jct to Germann Siding (Germann Siding had the east side signal already replaced.  West side of siding has a Tri-Light (Red Yellow on Top, Green on the bottom).
  • Between Gilbert, Mesa, Tempe are random.

Hope this helps
