Leaving Northport
In BC. Switching, they will end up shoving up that hill.
Running around their train at the end of the BC shortline.

With more work, we broke off and hunted down the San Poil turn. Followed it back to Kettle Falls.

Nice work, looks like a great chase and time well spent. They seem to be doing a pretty fair business.

The Columbia is fascinating in that area, lots of history.

I was just looking into these lines after spending a week north of the border. Good to see plenty of traffic on these lines. Looks pretty sparse up there.

Great photos, BTW. Could serve as a nice basis for a TRAINS magazine article on the lines.....

Great photos of a beautiful region that receives little coverage.

What's the status of the ex-GN line that used to run into Nelson, BC?

The line to Nelson is only alive for approx. seven miles from Columbia Gardens to Fruitvale, BC. It is run by the Nelson Fort Sheppard Railway, which is owned by Atco Wood Products. It interchanges with the KFR in Columbia Gardens two to three times per week. From Fruitvale to Nelson, the right of way is now a bike trail.

Omnitrax has no corporate identity, unlike Genessee and Wyoming. This is the most cohesive the KFR's power has ever looked. Just a year or two ago, you couldn't get three units together with the same paint scheme. Even now, it isn't all that common.
