Signal Sunday: Maxwell, MO
Author: santafe199

This elderly searchlight signal governs eastbound traffic at the west switch of a BNSF (ex-BN, nee CB&Q) siding in Missouri called Maxwell. This is the west end of the Cameron Cut-off, built in the 50s in an attempt, among other things, to give Santa Fe some competition in passenger business. From here the BNSF runs on trackage rights on into Kansas City. I haven’t been by this spot in quite a while to see if they’ve fallen prey to PTC upgrading yet. But if they are still ‘holding the fort’ the their days are surely numbered. Here’s a different angle of the same train I posted 4½ years ago: ( https://www.trainorders.com/discussion/read.php?1,3248524,3248531#msg-3248531 )

1. BNSF 9946 sits at the point of a westbound manifest parked at Maxwell, MO on November 23, 2013. That’s the Missouri hwy 210 overpass in the background.

Thanks for looking!

A NICE signal look at Maxwell along with the train.

Sorry, Lance. When I was by there last year, the "Darth Vaders" were in place.

This is a tough spot to get to today. You'll have to walk some to get there.
