Long dormant stack train in Eugene
Author: ST2K

Whilst I was at the doctors the Stack train held in Eugene due to the tunnel 11 problems was hooked up to 3 road units between 12:30 and 14:00 today
I did not see any yard crew out by the train so I could not tell if it had passed a new air test yet.

They are running it now as the ZEULAX 17 and it departed Eugene within the last hour. If I am correct this was a ZBRLA that was caught by the tunnel collapse last month. Did they switch out any of the cars while it sat there or did the train just sit there intact for the last 3 weeks?

Appears to have been left intact, only the power taken off.

I can't say for sure but I think it just sat. Looking at the springs it had a lot of empties on it.

Thanks. And as info, the trailer and containers are probably empty, but in the eyes of the railroad the cars are loads, being that they have trailers and/or containers on them. Just light loads.

LOL, BNSF lists will often still show the cars as empty even if they have empty intermodal equipment on them.

Can't imagine this was a train carrying loaded intermodal as that would have been at least a priority of some sort; I'm sure they would've put power on the other end and detoured the train, not leave it sit there for weeks. Empty intermodal equipment is a dud though, no hurry there...

In 14 years of railroading intermodal trains, I've never ONCE seen that.

I see it every day switching them out.  Only way to tell if it's "load" is no "BT" or Baretable in the SCHI code (and usually has a destination assigned to the car) - or to see trailers or containers on it.

Perhaps we're looking at different lists then.   Point A to Point B lists aren't like that at all, and it'd be chaos if they were.
