Don't Run down the Tracks when a Train is Coming!
Author: funnelfan

Last Sunday I was up at Lake Cocolalla in Idaho railfanning with a friend. Waiting for a train we saw these two teenagers park a car and start walking down the tracks toward us fishing poles in hand. We knew the train was due any second, and sure enough it blew for a nearby crossing. That's when the two doofuses take off running down the tracks ahead of the train. Thankfully they soon woke up to the fact they were going to lose that race and got off the tracks. Too bad the cloud shadow moved in seconds before the train came into view, as this would have been a epic image.

I dunno, just looking over average train velocities they might have a chance.

But that section is the 'test Mile" where people try to out run the train.

Interesting photo, but most people that get hit by trains aren't aware that they are in jeopardy.  These fellows clearly know a train is coming.  This happens hundreds of times a day.

OTOH, if they were walking with earbuds in and oblivious to the train, that would be a different story.
