Between Picacho and Tucson along I-10.  ATCS shows tracks around these control points are Out of Service from CP SP 961 Marana to CP SP 970 Sabino.

Looks like Amtrak #1, the Sunset, will only get as far as Tucson.

Ugly and dirty mess! Not going to be a easy cleanup.

UPS will deliver each package that is not totally destroyed.  UPS will send people to the derailment and pick up each package by hand.

I guess my Black Rifle Coffee order will be delayed. Good thing I prepared for a disaster.  Glad no one was injured.

This was a washout from flash flood in a wash. The derailed trailers were washed away towards I-10.

The front part of the train is moving towards the Tucson Yard on Main Track 2.  According to ATCS Monitor, the train will be stopping at CP SP 979 Stockham E.

Right around the location of the derailment 2-3 inches of rain fell in a very short time resulting in very high water flows in the washes.  Right now all indications are the derailment was weather related.

About what time would this train have departed Los Angeles.

Amtrak #1 would be going to Los Angeles.  It was running almost 2 hours late before the derailment.

Sorry, you were asking about train #1 in a post earlier, so I thought you meant train #1 still.  From my understanding and railfanning this route, this train probably left LATC early morning.  Dispatch is usually pretty good with their Z train's progress on the Sunset Route.

On another note, they have trains moving on Main 1, starting with the first train going Eastbound at 4:19 AM Arizona Time.
