Western Railroad Discussion > UP 1989 in Idaho Falls, Idaho last Saturday

Hi All!

I was in Idaho Falls, Idaho last Saturday, July 14th. I made a wrong turn and ended up on the street that goes past the UP office and locomotive yard. While I was making a u-turn, I noticed an SD40N and a wide nosed grey locomotive sitting in the yard. I decided to investigate a little further and found the UP 1989 - Rio Grande, sitting next to the SD40N with yellow caution tape around the front hand railings.

I was surprised to see the 1989 on this line. What's the story, if anybody knows?
