Update on SP 1006 at OERM (SCRM) 7/21/16
Author: TomPlatten

Today two important things happened. 1) we finally got the last piece of the "flash" cock pipe out of the liner as Carl and Bob heated the area and finally managed to use an easy out to slowly and carefully unscrew the remnant out of the liner. You can see the remnant  in the first photo! 2) Next it was decided to split off some members of the 1006 crew to return to general locomotive maintenance. Too many of our operational locomotive are starting to display major and minor "needs" to keep functioning. It was thought two people could continue to work on the SP 1006 and at least four other crew members could be released for running maintenance, Today SP 3100 had all of its battery cells checked and brought to common levels. About two gallons of water were needed to do that. Next week, we will move the 3100 over the service pit next to carbarn #4 for brake adjustments!

Actually it was Frank that got the broken flash cock piece out with Carl.  Never did see Kilroy!  Fun was had by all.
