CN crude oil train on UP Pana sub
Author: Trainatic

We were out railfanning at Tuscola IL yesterday and caught the oil train southbound. Had 2 upfront and 2 on the rear. Anyone know where it starts and ends?

The BNSF buffer cars on it may give a few hints to the origin.

I cannot answer for this specific train, but a lot of the oil coming through here goes to St. James, LA.

Did you see the placards for this train????  It may be an ethanol train instead.

It's probably an oil train, Nick.  CN and UP are moving Canadian oil from Alberta to the Texas Gulf Coast (to a refinery).   Don't know why it would have a BNSF buffer car, unless this is North Dakota crude oil interchanged from BNSF to UP with CN power...not likely.

Yes I did double check on the placards to make sure it was crude oil and not ethanol
Thanks
