We currently do not have an estimated time of tracks reopening between #Fullerton and #LosAngeles. Train 565 is returning to Fullerton and will hold there. Buses are being requested to provide bus bridge service between #Fullerton and #LosAngeles. A rare mileage collectors dream would have the trains re-routed over the UP (ex-LA&SL) from Hobart Tower to South Gate to Anaheim (ex-SP)! Where did that random piece of welded rail come from? Date: 11/07/18 13:58 Re: UP On The Ground At DT Junction Diamonds - BNSF Blocked Author: Hookdragkick Probably on old stick, or future stick of rail laying on the side that once deformed by the impact of the cars, whipped itself over the main.

I did this many years back, when all the UP track was yard limits through East LA, and it real slow going. But they allowed me to get off at the old PE crossing. An interesting ATSF detour, in 1958, when storms had the line closed into California, the El Cap and Super Chief detoured from Albuquerque - Deming, then to California. Stop was made at Colton , where the four San Bernardino Traffic department reps were on hand to assit and they brought over three Red Caps to help. That was in the days of service. Try that on Amtrak today. I went down on my own time to open the SP traffic office so to have phone contact with the SP dispatcher. Yep, that was before West Riverside existed and we rode past the UP station in Riverside on the street running. We detrained at Colton Interlocking as opposed to West Colton. And re Mundo's comments on detours, I've seen photos of the SUNSET when SP detoured it via Parker, AZ. I rode a detour over that line back in 1983 under Amtrak. https://trained-dude.livejournal.com/1983/06/06/ Date: 11/07/18 19:28 Re: UP On The Ground At DT Junction Diamonds - BNSF Blocked Author: David.Curlee Main 2 is open again as of 1921 hours. There's a lingering track light on Main 1 so it's safe to say the diamonds were damaged.

It was the only one I observed as I was driving my truck on the 99, so I don't know if this was a "detour train" or maybe a "trackage rights" train. In either case, an uncommon view.
