UP 1995 CNW Heritage Sherman Hill today
Author: highgreengraphics

Today a Roseville-North Platte manifest went eastbound over Sherman Hill, WY with clean C&NW Heritage unit UP 1995, a day with alternate sun , clouds and snow squalls.

Photo 1 - Before it showed up, a faster eastbound emerges from Hermosa Tunnel on Sherman Hill with an arrowedge leading the containers and GE's newest offering leading.

Photo 2 - The sun was wrong at the tunnel, and it came out bright before 1995 showed up, so I moved to the Pillow Rocks spot just east of Dale. Darker clouds and blowing snow got me good here.

Photo 3 - The clean locomotive looked nice closer even in the overcast.

There's Mooore...

Photo 4 - Rounding the curve west of Granite, WY.

Photo 5 - Meeting a westbound with another Arrowedge up front at the former townsite of Sabula, WY from the I-80 overpass.

Photo 6 - Right after sunset, an auto rack westbound is on the curve between 498 mileposts west of Durham, WY, east of Archer, with EMD's newest offering in front.

Heck, we have had snow days several times in the past 3 weeks already.
It is November in Wyoming and anything is possible. One day it was 68 degrees and the nextr day was 31 with snow squalls.

Great composition. Thanks for sharing.

I need to get out there for a few days with my camera. If the wind is blowing (like it usually does) your outing might be a little chilly.

Nice Shots HGG -

Sherman Hill is a raw, cold place during late fall & winter. I was cold just looking at your shots..

Thanks much for photos
UP is still using code lines? Note poles with wires in several pictures.

I wonder what kind of difference those arrow wedge containers make in both fuel efficiecy gains, and even ability in helping maintain track speed in high winds?
